Introduction
This article covers the second half of RU patch 13.5.0.27 for OEM 13c: applying it to a Management Agent on a monitored target. If you haven't already patched the OMS side, see Apply RU Patch on OEM first — the Agent-side RU patch cannot be applied until the matching OMS RU patch is already in place. The two patches share the same RU number but are separate downloads, use different patching utilities, and follow a different apply flow, which is what this article walks through.
What Is AgentPatcher and Why It Matters
AgentPatcher is Oracle's patching utility for the Management Agent component of OEM Cloud Control — it plays the same role for the Agent that OMSPatcher plays for the OMS, and both work similarly to OPatch for a database home. Unlike the OMS-side apply, an Agent patch run has no MRS (Management Repository Store) artifacts to register, since that metadata lives in the repository, not on the Agent host — you'll notice this difference in the apply output in Step 8.
Prerequisites
Confirm the following before patching the Agent. Since this patch is applied per target, most of these requirements are far lighter than the OMS-side patch.
- A maintenance window of at least 30 minutes on the specific target's Agent, since the Agent goes down during the apply.
- A minimum of 2GB free at the Agent's mount point for the patch download and binary backup.
- RU patch
13.5.0.27(37784425) must already be applied on the OMS — the Agent-side patch will not install cleanly against an unpatched OMS. - Download the RU patch and the matching
AgentPatcherutility from My Oracle Support before starting.

Applying the Agent Patch Step by Step
Step 1. Update AgentPatcher to the Required Version
The patch ReadMe for this Agent RU requires AgentPatcher version 13.9.5.10.0 — note this is a different minimum version than the 13.9.5.26.0 required on the OMS side, since the two utilities version independently. A common gotcha shows up in the output below: running agentpatcher version before exporting ORACLE_HOME fails with a generic error, because the utility has no way to locate the Agent home on its own.

Once ORACLE_HOME is set correctly, the second version call confirms 13.9.5.10.0 is in place and the utility is ready for the analyze and apply steps ahead.
Step 2. Run the Precheck
Confirm the Agent is healthy and capture the current patch inventory as a baseline before you touch anything, the same way you would on the OMS side.

The grep "Platform Update" returning nothing here confirms this Agent has no RU patch applied yet — that's expected, since this baseline check runs before Step 8. Compare this empty result against the same command in Step 10 to see the difference.
Step 3. Check the Target Version and Patch Details in the OEM Console
Go to Setup → Manage Cloud Control → Agents to see the RU status Oracle's own console reports for this target, which is useful for confirming patch state without shell access.
The RU column showing blank for the UAT target confirms no RU patch is applied yet. Click the target name to drill into its details.
From the Configuration section on this page, click Oracle Home & Patch Details.
This shows the patches applied at initial installation — a useful reference point to compare against once the new RU has landed.
Step 4. Unzip the RU Patch
As on the OMS side, each numbered directory inside the extracted zip is a separate sub-patch that AgentPatcher evaluates individually.

Step 5. Analyze the Patch Before Applying
The -analyze flag surfaces which sub-patches will actually install. On the Agent side, this list is typically shorter than what's downloaded, since a single RU zip covers plugin sub-patches for every OEM-supported technology (BDA, Exadata, EMFA, and so on) and most Agents only have a handful of those plugins deployed.

Take a filesystem-level backup of the Agent home before applying, the same precaution used on the OMS side.

Running agentpatcher apply installs the 9 applicable sub-patches. The trimmed section repeats the same "could not be applied" plugin list already shown in full in Step 5 — it's identical output, not new information, since it's the same environment being re-evaluated during the real apply.
Step 9. Bounce Agent Services and Verify Status
Cycle the Agent once more after the patch completes. You'll notice OMS Version briefly shows (unknown) right after the patched Agent restarts — that's expected and transient, since the Agent hasn't re-established its first heartbeat to the OMS yet. A full stop/start cycle clears it, as the final status check below confirms.

Where Step 2's version of this same grep returned nothing, it now returns the Platform Update 27 line — that's the clearest single confirmation that the Agent-side RU patch succeeded.
Step 11. Verify the RU Version and Patch Details in the OEM Console
Return to the same target details screen from Step 3 to confirm the update is now visible there too.
Note: it can take a few minutes for the patch details to refresh in the OEM console after the Agent's next upload — if the console still shows the old patch level immediately after Step 10 confirms success at the CLI, that's expected, not a sign anything went wrong.
How This Fits with the OMS-Side Patch
Both articles apply the same RU, 13.5.0.27, but they patch different components with different tools: OMSPatcher against the central OMS in the OMS RU patch guide, versus AgentPatcher against each individual target's Agent here. The OMS must always be patched first, since the Agent-side patch depends on it. Beyond that ordering requirement, the two apply flows differ in scope and duration — the OMS patch needs a much larger maintenance window and touches repository metadata, while each Agent patch is a lighter, per-target operation you'll repeat across every monitored host.
